The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) announced it has published a fact sheet that details the humanitarian issue of the Missing Persons in Cyprus, a consequence of the 1974 invasion of the Republic of Cyprus by Turkey.

“AHI is committed to the issue of the missing persons in Cyprus and to advocating in the United States on behalf of this humanitarian issue and the families that are seeking closure to a tragic consequence of Turkey’s invasion,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said. “Our publication of this fact is intended to help educate policymakers as well as the community about the Missing Persons in Cyprus, which includes five American citizens.”

The fact sheet presents background information about the Committee on Mission Persons, which is a UN-created body tasked to determine the fate of persons reported missing;  statistics, legal cases, and an explainer about the American citizens who are missing.
