Everyone was reminded of the good old days at the consecration and opening ceremony of the coffee shop "Under Pressure Coffee" and the Greek supermarket "Athena", which took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Astoria.

These are the newest Greek shops in Astoria, which are located in the heart of the Greek market and near the last station of the overground railway in Ditmars.

The consecration was performed by the priestly head of the community of Agios Dimitrios Astoria, Fr. Anargyros Stavropoulos and the vicar, Fr. Gideon Varytimos, who wished success to the partners of the two businesses and to the staff.

"Under Pressure Coffee" is the third of the chain of the same name. The first is located at the intersection of 31st Street and 31st Avenue in Astoria, a stone's throw from the Astoria Cathedral of St. Demetrius, while the second operates in Whitestone, specifically at 1431 150th St, Whitestone, NY 11357, near the community of Holy Cross.

Athena Gourmet Market located at 23-38 31st St, Astoria, NY 11105 is the first venture and the owners and staff place special emphasis on promoting fine and innovative Greek products.

On their shelves you can find many name labels, a wide range of extra virgin and organic olive oil, as well as fine cheeses and confectionery.

Referring to the "Athens" supermarket, Mr. Yannis Stavropoulos pointed out: that it is an innovative initiative "which has come to combine a European style cafe with a Deli Gourmet of Greek texture, with renewed ideas, with innovative companies".
