Featured Obama weighs in on Trump's remarks about Giannis

U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump's rant about Giannis Antetokounmpo caused an uproar. As Americans count down to the presidential election, the Republican candidate referred to the Greek NBA star, stressing: "Who is more Greek? The Greek or me? I'd say we're the same, right'?

For his part, Antetokounmpo was asked about the issue and responded diplomatically by keeping his distance, however, Barack Obama responded to Trump for the racist comment he made regarding Giannis.

“If you were black or Latino and felt like your community was often neglected by politicians, beyond election season. I understand how you feel. But why do you think the answer is to vote for someone who has a long history of undermining and disregarding your communities, whose business was sued for not renting to people like you. Who obviously cannot understand that an NBA superstar can be black and Greek.

Which implies that every Mexican who crosses the border is a criminal and a rapist. Which spreads ridiculous fantasies that Haitian people eat other people's pets. That just last week he arranged for one of his supporters to tell jokes about black people eating watermelons and Puerto Rico being a garbage island, on stage at Madison Square Garden. Do you think this is someone who can take care of you'?

Trump's racist comment and Giannis' response

Donald Trump, in his pre-election rally at the Fiserv Forum, the Bucks stadium, had gone on a racist rant about Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the Bucks leader giving his own answer.

"I have not heard his statements. I don't follow politics that much and from what little I do I try to keep my opinions to myself and my family. I'm here to play basketball and answer basketball questions. I wish both candidates the best of luck."

Trump's racist comment about Antetokounmpo: "Who is more Greek?" Him or me?'

Donald Trump spoke at the home of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Fisery Forum, where the Republican National Convention was held last year. Initially, the Republican candidate appeared excited for his rally in New York's Madison Square Garden, where several speakers made racist comments, including comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who called Puerto Rico a "trash island."

However, he argued that a similar gathering takes place on the court of the NBA team, proceeding with comments about Giannis Antetokounmpo and ignoring, in their opinion, the entire past of the player.

"Your team is very good. I would say that the Greek is a really good player. Do you agree? And tell me. Who is more Greek? The Greek or me? I would say we are the same, right?” said Donald Trump, consciously or unconsciously ignoring that Antetokounmpo was born in Greece to Nigerian parents, is a Greek citizen, speaks Greek and plays for the Greek National Team. However, he made good comments about his performance. "He's a very good player, maybe the best in the NBA. He might be the best player. They say he's a really good kid too. But with your help we will defeat Kamala Harris and make America great again,” he said.
