The event was attended by the Consul General of Greece in New York, Ifigenia Kanara, the Director of the Public Diplomacy Office Mary Vaxevanidou, the Director of the Greek Commercial Office in New York Nikolaos Thomopoulos, the President of the Federation of Greek Associations of Greater New York Nomiki Kastana, the Honorary President of the Greek American Homeowners Association of Astoria George Alexiou, the President of the Kefalonian Association of New York “Kefalos” Nikos Alysandratos, the Publisher of the former daily newspaper Fani Petallidou and other representatives of the Greek community.

The Consul General of Greece in New York, Ifigenia Kanara, expressed her satisfaction because with their invitation they provided her with the opportunity to get to know the Athenians and their friends up close.

Referring to the 2025 goals, she pointed out that they will work to improve the services provided by the Consulate to the Greek diaspora and to all those who wish to visit Greece.

“We will make every effort to change the image of the Consulate General,” Ms. Kanara pointed out, among other things.

The President of the Association, Panos Adamopoulos, welcomed the guests, the executives and the members and wished them success in 2025.

He then briefly reviewed the Association's activities in 2024 and emphasized that the Association's donations to the Center for Greek Studies at Stony Brook University and the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at Queens College hold a prominent place, as well as the successful event for the anniversary of the liberation of Athens, which, as "Anamneseis" wrote, took place at Queens College.

Finally, we should note that the organizing committee took care of both the important and the insignificant details that literally made the difference.
