Funeral for Archbishop Anastasios of Albania

Politicians, personalities, as well as clergy of religious communities, arrive at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord in Tirana.
Today in Tirana they will bid farewell to Archbishop Anastasios, the hierarch, who leaves his strong mark on the post-Hoxha new era for the neighboring country.
Who will attend the funeral of Anastasios in Tirana
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 local time, presided over by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who is expected to arrive in Tirana shortly together with Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.
Since yesterday, the Patriarchs of Jerusalem Theophilos and Bulgaria Daniel, Archbishop George of Cyprus, delegations of the Patriarchates of Serbia, Romania and Antioch, a delegation of the Holy Community of Mount Athos, with abbots of the Monasteries of Simonos Petra and Xenophontos, have been in the Albanian capital.
Bidding farewell with flowers in their hands
Since dawn, believers from every corner of Albania have been arriving to say “final goodbye” to their pastor. Hundreds of children who attend the schools founded by the Archbishop are already at the Cathedral, with flowers in their hands.
The Albanian police have taken security measures in the area around the Cathedral.
During the funeral service, the Ecumenical Patriarch, the vicar of the Archdiocese of Albania, Metropolitan Ioannis of Korçë, the coordinator of the World Council of Churches, Bishop Heinrich Bedform-Strohm, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, will speak in turn.
Yesterday afternoon, the head of the Bektashi community, Baba Monti, bid farewell to the late Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, and in his statements, praised the personality of the hierarch. In particular, he stated: “His Beatitude is a personality of the Albanian Orthodox Church, who worked selflessly to resurrect this church from the grave. He was a man who collaborated with all religious communities and especially with me personally… He leaves this world, with a work that he left behind for the Orthodox Church of Albania, but also for the Albanians. Condolences to the Orthodox Church”.
