The Archbishop of America provided information on the status and progress of the Archdiocese of America, which plays a key role in preserving the identity and cohesion of the Greek diaspora, as it constitutes a strong link with the motherland.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic emphasized that the Greek State supports the Archdiocese of America and its multifaceted work on a spiritual, humanitarian and educational level, work that, among other things, aims to preserve the Greek Orthodox tradition as a living tradition within the Greek diaspora.
He also pointed out that our Greek diaspora, who are also American citizens, are the guarantors for the preservation of the Greek Orthodox identity and tradition on the American continent. Their steadfast love for Greece is of inestimable value to the motherland, in every effort of which they always stand as helpers.
At the same time, he emphasized that the contribution of the Archdiocese is extremely important in ensuring the conditions that contribute to the preservation and strengthening of the ties of the Greek diaspora with the homeland, the preservation of the Greek language and our cultural identity, as well as the utilization of the enormous potential of our compatriots from abroad.
Finally, the President of the Republic reiterated to the Archbishop of America the continuous and sincere commitment of the homeland and himself personally to the success of the sacred goals of the Archdiocese.
