Cyprus Gains Tourism Arrivals & Earnings Increase
Cyprus Tourism Organization's Chairman of the Board of Directors Angelos Loizou has reported an increase of 6% in arrivals and 8% in earnings, in comparison to 2013.
Loizou commented to CNA, "We are satisfied with the results. Things were not looking very bright, but the results we got are satisfactory. However there are still concerns and we have to improve these results as there is potential to do just that".
Loziou voiced his desire for collaborative efforts to promote the Cypriot tourism sector, "this is not only the CTO's job, it involved all state organizations in the tourist industry as well as society at large."
The Chairman added of July's 6% arrival rise and May's 8% earnings increase, "There are markets showing an upward trend, but there also are markets that are problematic". Nations such as Russia and Switzerland are increasing their travels to Cyprus, while Germany has recently toured the nation less.
Loizou spoke of the future, "We look forward to seeing the results of our first attempts as a Board in relation to making Cyprus more accessible to countries that show a drop in tourist arrivals, such as Germany and some other northern countries".
