Greek energy minister in Washington

Papastavrou will meet with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, while the two ministers will also participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, taking place under Greece’s presidency and co-hosted by the United States.
Papastavrou and Wright will also attend the annual Leaders Council Dinner organized by the Atlantic Council.

On Tuesday, Papastavrou is scheduled to meet with Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawy.

On June 8-9, the Minister of Environment and Energy, together with his US counterpart, will participate in the Atlantic Council’s annual Global Energy Forum. Papastavrou will also take part in the East Med Business Forum, which is being held on the sidelines of the conference and focuses on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Thursday, Papastavrou will travel to Houston, where the ministerial meeting of the 3+1 energy cooperation framework (Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the United States) is expected to take place.

According to sources, discussions during the EMGF ministerial meeting will focus on the forum’s long-term strategic evolution beyond natural gas, as well as issues related to energy security, infrastructure development, investment attraction, regional cooperation, and strengthening the strategic position of the Eastern Mediterranean within the evolving international and European energy landscape.

It is noted that the forum’s members include Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Palestine and France, while the United States, the European Union and the World Bank participate as observers.
