NYC Subway Ridership Highest Since Truman Era!

  • Written by

The MTA has stated that its most current subway rider figures reveal its highest rate of customers since President Truman's term in 1949.

Transit Reporter Jose Martinez compiled the subsequent account.

MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz described: "Folks are coming back to the subway in droves. For the first time in decades, we've seen annual ridership top 1.7 billion people, which is a tremendous amount of people using our subway system".

Yesterday the MTA offered its yearly ridership statistics, which lead to additional packed trains and stations during all times of the day and night. Ortiz added: "Essentially, we're seeing a large amount of ridership any time after 8 p.m. and even into the overnight hours".

These statistics can be felt the most on the L train, where riders have come in droves to each of its stops. The line has an additional 6,000 transporters on weekdays and additional trains had to be added between its Brooklyn and Manhattan route. The Barclays Center-Atlantic Yards Brooklyn station ridership inflated by over 4,200 riders per day, according to the report.
