Long Island Man's Desperate Kidney Donor Search
Long Island's Matthew Botchler is in a desperate search for a living kidney donor.
The 37-year-old patient's kidneys are in swift failure; he has suffered related illnesses his whole life. The Selden resident is on a seven to nine year kidney transplant wait list; unfortunately he won't live that long due to the severity of his ailment.
As WCBS 880 reported, Botchler's on his own in his quest for an appropriate living donor. He has established the "Matt's Kidney Kampaign" on Facebook and is declaring an emergency plea to strangers. The man stated, "If I don't go out and find it myself I may never find it...It's not the easiest thing to find, so it's not like you can just walk up to anybody and say, 'Hey, can I have your kidney?'".
Unfortunately his family, friends and fiancé are not complimentary blood matches. Of his fiancé, Matthew Botchler commented, "She has stood by me through thick and thin and she is a true angel".
