Greek & Turkish Cypriots Hold Confidence Building Panel
Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot party leaders discussed confidence building measures today, during a regularly scheduled Ledra Palace meeting in Nicosia, under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy.
The Slovak Ambassador to Nicosia Oksana Tomova, stated of the discussions: "The political parties agreed on that we need to build trust in an effective way, to have a lasting impact on everyone in our country".
Additionally, Tomova commented that the next meeting will be conducted on May 26th at Ledra Palace, marking the 25th anniversary of Cypriot political parties' bi-communal communications. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák will participate in the upcoming meeting.
The Slovak Embassy has been collaborating with the two sides of the island's bi-communal discussions, since 1989. The Embassy holds a monthly panel between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties at the headquarters of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, at Ledra Palace.
