Pangalos strikes again... again!

Once again, the outspoken veteran politician, speaking on Vimafm radio blasted away at “friends” and foes alike, taking aim at some of his former comrades in PASOK as well as persons under scrutiny by justice for corruption.

One of the persons he took specific aim at was jailed former PASOK minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos, of whom he said he was not fit to even be the doorman at party headquarters. Mr Pangalos remonstrated that he never supported Tsohatzopoulos during the decades they were in the party and in the government together.

Mr. Pangalos noted that in PASOK and SYRIZA (meaning those that migrated there from PASOK) there are persons close to Tsohatzopoulos that wanted to make him Prime Minister

As for the kickbacks and scandals concerning weapon system purchases, he said he knew nothing, and that nothing had ever come to his attention. He did say that if he had brought up such an issue, if he had known about it, then his presence in the party and the government would be untenable. He also called on those that knew details to step up and reveal them to justice.

Another person he blasted was Angelos Philippidis, who is charged in the postbank scandal, saying he was impressed by the man's impudence. Mr. Pangalos noted that under PM Kostas karamanlis the government was run by people now arrested or under judicial inquiry, like Filippidis, Kontominas, and Griveas, because the PM was less diligent, or active than he should have been.

Oddly enough, Mr Pangalos linked the missing 500 million euros from the postbank to the cuts in civil servant wages ordered by then finance minister Giorgos Papakonstantinou, saying the measure was indecorous and cruel (a sideswipe at his former colleague), and could have been remedied if such sums did not go missing from public wealth.
