Resurrection of Greece's economy must now become a resurrection of Greeks' daily lives

The resurrection and emerging recovery of Greece's economy must now also become translated into a "resurrection" of the daily lives of Greek men and women, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Greek Easter Sunday, during his visit to the Kiramadio naval base at Cavo Sidero, a cape on the easternmost part of the island of Crete.
The prime minister spent Easter at the naval base, accompanied by National Defence Minister Evangelos Apostolakis and Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) chief General Christos Christodoulou and Hellenic Navy General Staff chief Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN.
Extending his best wishes for the Easter holiday to all Greeks, he noted that the Resurrection celebrated at Easter symbolised the victory of life, light, justice and love and expressed his confidence about the country's future:
"We can survey this Easter with more optimism about the future since, after a difficult time, we find ourselves in a clearing of hope. All these years, through their sacrifices, the Greek people made possible the resurrection and recovery of the Greek economy. At the same time, the country has regained its prestige in both the Southeastern Mediterranean and in the Balkans, as well as its strength in Europe. All these things give us strength and optimism.
"Now, however, is the time when the resurrection of the economy must also become a resurrection of the daily lives of citizens, especially those that paid the highest price during the crisis. This possibility must also, of course, be utilised in the fairest way: with a new economic policy that will lighten the burdens, even more, for those that bore the brunt during the difficult times. With greater optimism, the same determination and strength and also faith in our abilities, I am certain that the future will be better for all."
Tsipras went on to exchange Easter wishes with the troops serving at the base and the crew of the Hellenic Navy's fast-attack missile boat "Daniolos", after a tour of the vessel.
"You are far from home on a day like this, on duty and we are proud of you because you defend our country's sovereign rights at a time when your fellow Greeks are with their families. All Greeks are proud of you. We want to wish that you will pass the coming days, once your shift is over, with your own people and also tell you that the Greek people and the country, apart from the debt of gratitude they owe to you, are well aware that the work you do is important for everyone. You are here on such a day but know that the country as a whole is better off because of you, your strength and your efforts. Happy holiday and fair seas," Tsipras told the troops after the tour.
