Niki Sideris Annual Memorial Walk-a-Thon Held May 17th
The Ronald McDonald House New York Greek Division is holding its "Niki Sideris Annual Memorial Walk-a-Thon", on Saturday, May 17th.
The Walk-a-Thon begins at 405 East 73rd Street, between 1st and York Avenues in New York City, at 11:00 a.m. The fundraiser benefits pediatric cancer patients. Sideris was the Ronald McDonald House New York Greek Division Founder and Chairman, until her death on October 12, 2011. The Ronald McDonald House opened in 1978 in New York City, with Sideris reinforcing its growth every step of the way.
The Greek philanthropist founded the Greek Division that assisted families immigrating to New York, who faced extreme challenges regarding proper treatments and cures for their sick children, combined with language barriers, expensive rentals and an incompetent family support structure. Sideris organized fundraisers and informational events to aid Hellenic families faced with these challenges. Niki Sideris initiated the yearly spring marathon event, which she coined as her "Marathon of Love".
