Mayor De Blasio Declares "Barbara Walters Day"
Today, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio deemed this May 16th as "Barbara Walters Day" in the City.
The Walters tribute honors the extremely successful TV reporter's retirement, after a five decade award-winning career. De Blasio announced the commemoration this morning on "The View", where Walters serves as a co-host.
The Mayor and his wife Chirlane McCray appeared on the popular talk show together, where the Emmy Award winning journalist grilled the couple on their family and relationship. The dynamic couple discussed the challenges they face as an interracial couple. On May 15th, "The View's" past and current hosts will come together for the first time, and pay tribute to Barbara Walters.
