Innovative Charity Supports At-Risk Children in Greece

New York, New York—April 16, 2015—Facilitating a brighter future for Greece—London based charity Hellenic Hope is spreading its reach to New York to raise awareness and change lives.

Hellenic Hope (UK registered charity #1150596) was founded in 2012 by a group of Greek expats and Philhellenes who were deeply troubled by the humanitarian crisis triggered by the 2008 economic downturn. Hellenic Hope supports child focused, non-profit, NGOs operating in some of the most socio- economically deprived areas of Greece.

The organization serves as a link between funds and smaller local NGOs that truly understand the needs of the communities they serve. These NGOs are typically starved for resources and often struggle to survive. As a partner, Hellenic Hope funds specific projects and helps stabilize these smaller NGOs in order to improve their core offerings for children in need.

To date, Hellenic Hope has positively impacted over 500 children in the Attica region of Greece. The charity has funded projects to provide food parcels, medical support and educational programs including cooking and IT training. The charity has also funded the construction of several local kitchens to feed children directly.

Hellenic Hope is extraordinarily effective as a result of their emphasis on accountability, openness and transparency. The charity operates under a thorough due diligence policy and conducts oversight on all projects. Additionally, Hellenic Hope is run solely by volunteers, and all operational costs are covered by the board of directors.
