National Technical University of Athens Shuts Down
An emergency investigation has been called on the National Technical University of Athens today, after pupils were banned from entering the educational institution, along with verbal attacks between students.
The investigation comes after the University's administrative sector closed the institution until a later date. As a result, the administration staff's president Rania Zachou and general secretary Effie Floraki stepped down from their positions. Both colleagues were not in favor of closing the University.
National Technical University staff claimed that following an Athens University senate, a new assembly would be administered, yet a date has not be set. Education Minister Andreas Loverdos requested that the University opens as soon as possible, on Mega channel. The Minister is not authorized to reopen the school on his own. The University's semester was scheduled to end on Friday.
