Today's Terror Trial Expects Closing Statements

  • Written by

Today's terror trial in Lower Manhattan expects both parties to deliver closing statements.

Osama bin Laden's son-in-law Salaiman Abu Ghaith has been accused of creating Muslim recruitment videos, following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center.

The suspected terrorist is also being tried for serving as an al Qaeda spokesman and for contributing material support to the violent sect. Abu Ghaith's lawyer claims he originally refused to create an aired segment describing the reasoning behind the attacks, requested directly by Osama bin Laden.  The leader of al Qaeda is reported to have given him notes on what message he specifically wanted to get across.

Last week Abu Ghaith, who is the highest level accused terrorist to take the stand in his own defense in a U.S. Civil Court, testified in New York City.  Closing arguments are anticipated to finalize today.
